RUI CHAFES | Glückliche Tage, Museum unter Tage, Bochum

Based on Samuel Beckett’s eponymous play from 1960, Glückliche Tage (Happy Days) explores forms of happiness within difficult circumstances. The exhibited works reflect experiences of happiness or contemplate happiness, some of which were created within the context of war or repression. The spectrum of exhibited works spans from 1970 to the present.

The following artists are featured in the exhibition: Yevgenia Belorusets (b. 1980, Kyiv), Rui Chafes (b. 1966, Lisbon), Tamara Eckhardt (b. 1995, Berlin), Nan Goldin (b. 1953, Washington D.C.), Barbara Hammer (Los Angeles 1939–2019 New York City), Carsten Höller (b. 1961, Brussels), Ken Lum (b. 1956, Vancouver), Johanna von Monkiewitsch (b. 1979, Rome), Yoko Ono (b. 1933, Tokyo), Felix Gonzalez-Torres (Guáimaro, Cuba 1957–1996 Miami), Heike Weber (b. 1962, Siegen), and Stefan Wissel (b. 1960, Hamburg).
